Wednesday Winter Walks Series: Col Trail to East Rattlesnake
During the Wednesday Winter Walks Series in January, get out and explore a few of the Squam Lakes Association trails.
This is a wonderful opportunity to check off trails listed on the Squam Ranger list. Squam Rangers are a dedicated group of hikers who have conquered 50 miles of trails in the Squam Watershed. Proceeds from this program support the SLA’s annual trail maintenance efforts. For $50.00, you’ll receive the Squam Ranger kit that includes a t-shirt, trail guide & map, trail log and a day pack. After hiking all 50 trails, you’ll be presented with a Squam Ranger patch, baseball cap, and certificate and be amongst the ranks of 69 others who can officially call themselves a Squam Ranger!
During this week’s program, participants will get moving and explore this moderate trail with occasional uneven terrain and steep slopes. On this out and back hike covering 3 miles, you’ll pass a beaver pond and get a beautiful view of Squam at the turn around spot on top of East Rattlesnake. This is a great opportunity to check off part of the Col and Ridge Trail from your Squam Rangers Checklist as well!
